Massages

Holistic and Myofascial Release

Massage can help release physical and emotional tensions and ease out pain in specific areas. It can address situations where muscle condition and inflammation are an issue. Massage may also allow a softening of the often debilitating experiences of anxiety, depression and stress.
I listen openly to your past and current physical and emotional experiences (our 'feeling' self can also impact how we experience our bodies) and together we agree a way forward for your massage.

I combine my knowledge of different massage techniques and modalities (including holistic, myofascial release and deep tissue) to create an individual experience which meets your needs on the day and create a plan for going forward.

Pregnancy and post-natal

I love working with women during different stages of life. I have trained with Suzanne Yates at Well Mother to complete my Diploma in Pregnancy Massage. This is the most comprehensive pregnancy massage training available in the UK. I am passionate about this work and am happy and qualified to work with women at any stage of pregnancy.

Sessions incorporate massage and shiatsu, and include visualisations, relaxation techniques and movement for pregnancy. Massage and shiatsu work can take place on the massage table, on a futon mattress on the floor or on a birthing ball.
Each session will be tailored to your needs. and we will go through a consultation to ensure you receive the best massage that is suitable for you, at your stage of pregnancy. Women at any stage of pregnancy are welcome and the intention of the sessions is to support you to rest, relax, and focus on connecting with your own inner wisdom and the connection with your baby.

Included in the pregnancy package, I offer sessions for partners or birth partners to learn how to massage their partners through pregnancy and labour. I also offer post-natal massage sessions which are highly recommended, as this can bring a sense of 'coming-back-home' and a time for your own nurturing after giving birth.

I was asked if my  final essay for the pregnancy massage training could be incorporated on my teachers' website. It can be found here, on the Well Mother website and gives in an insight into my approach and learning.

I have given birth myself twice and bring my experience and understanding of both of these very different and impactful journeys to the session, when appropriate. I do find that many clients find it reassuring that I have an understanding of what it is they are going through and this can be beneficial during these beautiful and at times, challenging experiences.

Lomi Lomi Massage

I have trained in Lomi Lomi (Temple style Hawaiian) massage and find the history, lineage and beauty of the possibilities of this massage to be so rich and inspiring.

I have received this massage myself before and don't think I've ever felt so good in all my life- deeply softened and nourished with a strong sense of being very present to my body and clarity of mind. I knew then, that I wanted to offer this experience to others.

Each massage is unique to the receiver and can be described as a flowing and rhythmic, all- body massage; like the ebb and flow of the ocean waves. It can leave you feeling vibrant, deeply relaxed, connected, able to experience the present moment (no matter how short or long) and help restore balance in your body, mind and spirit.

Although not my own, this short video of a Lomi Lomi  session shows the wonderful flowing nature of the massage:
